    I thought it would be a good idea to include social book marking so that people can find my content. To do this using drupal is very easy. If you include the The Drupal "services links" module it will let you to add links for del.icio.us, Digg, StumbleUpon, Propeller, Reddit, ma.gnolia.com, Newsvine, Furl, Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Technorati and IceRocket. To do this
    follow these instructions;

  • Download Service Links module
  • Untar the downloaded file and ftp over to your modules diretory
  • Navagate to /admin/build/modules and toggle on the module
  • Navagate to /admin/user/permissions and turn on permissions for anonymous user for access service links.

    HP 2133 WebCam & Microphone on Linux

    HP2133 Linux SUSE 10
    A friend of mine recently purchased the HP2133 and has been having problems with the webcam and microphone. Even though it is a fine machine (Keyboard, Screen & Build quality )it was installed with Linux. I am not sure why these machines are sold to the general public with Linux, and more to the point why the driver for the webcam is missing.

    After a few hours of research I managed to find the correct driver.

    goto
    http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/drivers:/webcam/SLE_10/i586/

    locate this driver uvcvideo-kmp-default-r260_2.6.16.46_0.12-1.1.i586.rpm ( 4th from bottom)

    Double click on this and it will automatically activate the auto install program.

  • Low cost: Free Licenses as it comes with GNU General Public License.
    Large repositories from which you can freely download high quality software for almost any task you can think of.
  • Stability: Linux doesn’t need to be rebooted often to maintain performance levels. It hardly ever freezes up or slows down over time due to memory leaks and such. Very common to have up-times of hundreds of days (up to a year or more).

    DNS Propagation

    I have recently moved one of my own domain to a new server with my UK based ISP. It does take time for the DNS settings to be propagated throughout the internet. It can take 24 to 36 hours for the DNS propagation to complete. I found a useful tool whereby you can check the status of the DNS propagation at different locations of the world by accessing the following url.

    Drupal Caching Performance

    Drupal uses PHP to build web pages that are returned to a user's browser. Most of the time, these pages are unchanged between requests, and Drupal is working to build the same page before sending it off to the various users who requested it. IT makes sense then to tell Drupal that if it has created a web page once, it should store a copy of this page and serve that copy instead of going to the trouble of recreating it.

    Drupal Performance

    Every once in a while someone makes a site that becomes wildy popular. Having loads of people visiting all at once can put some serious strain on the server's resources and causes all sorts of problems as the congestion builds. Even if a site is not exceedingly popular, it is possible that it may come under a 'denial of service' attack from somewhere.

    Before even thinking about setting up the throttling mechanism on a site, it is important to know what resources are at your disposal.
